We have just released a new patch for Path of Titans! This new update includes many game-changing new features, such as aggressive AI critters, and 2 new dinosaur TLCs. Read on for all the details, or watch our update video summary below.

Aggressive and Roaming AI Critters

New free-roaming Critters have come to Panjura and Gondwa! These dynamically spawning creatures will wander around the map, watching for danger and searching for things to hunt. Unique Critters will appear in different biomes, with many having attacks and abilities that can be serious threats! Players must now watch out for danger, as many critters will chase and attack smaller dinosaurs like hatchlings and raptors. Critters like the Platyhystrix can now inflict venom with its bite, while other aggressive creatures like Dynamosuchus can cause heavy bleed with its powerful jaws. Critters are also a great source of food for smaller dinosaurs and will vary in what food type their corpses provide, such as Platyhystrix’s body only being edible for scavengers.

This is the very first implementation of critters. While there's a lot to explore in this patch, we will continue to update our critters with even more species to find such as Silesaurus and Bagaceratops, and add brand new behaviors and attacks. Be sure to keep an eye out on future patches for even more critter content!

Iguanodon TLC

The Iguanodon TLC is now out with this patch! To help this new boxer stand its ground better, we’ve increased its max health to be slightly higher, and also increased its health recovery to be faster. Using its new Block ability will allow Iguanodon to tank even more damage, and transition you instantly into its new Bipedal Stance. In this stance, the Iguanodon has both increased turning speed and stamina recovery. Players can combo this into an Arm Slam or Back Kick for highly damaging moves, and to put you back into your quadrupedal stance.

Taking damage while Iguanodon's new Retaliate passive is equipped gives you a noticeable damage boost for a short time! Combine this with your Thumb Barrage to deal large chunks of damage throughout the fight. Running Start lets you quickly close the gap on your opponent, and Hero’s Stand lets you inspire your teammates to fight stronger with each blow you land. Planted Feet lets Iguanodon ignore knockback, and taking blows with Second Wind lets Iguanodon recover its stamina mid-fight.

Gauntlets, Pivot, and Quadrupedal let Iguanodon players further customize their preferred Iguanodon playstyle by boosting specific stances depending on your selection. Be sure to try this updated herbivore today!

Deinonychus TLC

Alongside Iguanodon, our smallest raptor Deinonychus has also recieved its TLC pass! We have adjusted Deinonychus’ stats to work better with its new abilities. While Deinonychus now takes more damage from attacks overall, its new Lucky Feather ability means it will survive any attack that would have otherwise killed it. For those Deinonychus in combat, using Tail Fan and the newly added Double Jump lets Deinonychus reach some incredible distance to maneuver or get away. Use this combo with both the Escape Artist Senses ability and Slicer bite attack to quickly tear a piece of meat from another player before making your speedy escape. Eating this meat gives you a long-lasting buff to recover any health you lost.

This pairs with the new Meat Shield ability, that Deinonychus now has access to. Jump and cling on to your teammates to protect them from incoming damage. However, be careful, staying on too long may result in your death if you don't pay attention to your health. You can further lean into supporting your teammates with both On Alert and Rat Out to flush out other players attempting to hide from your raptor armada. The new Sever Tendon attack also lets you and your fellow Deinonychus stack a slowing effect on the prey you’re chasing.

If direct fighting isn’t your style, and you'd rather support your pack from a distance; then Distracting Chatter, Mob Rally, and Pack Hunter are for you! Distracting Chatter is an armor-boosting looping call for your teammates that persists until you are hit by an attack. Mob Rally is a new call that triggers a stacking increase for pouncing damage to assist your raptor teammates. And, Pack Hunter applies different buffs depending on how many Deinonychus are in your group. These effects can vary, from more healing, more damage, and more pounce stamina depending on the creatures in your pack. Experiment with all these new abilities and find the playstyle that fits for you.

Diet Changes

We have rebalanced many of the carnivore diets this patch. Thanks to the new critter AI that will be wandering around the map, diets are now less punishing for some creatures. As an example; Insectivore, Fisher, Scavenger, and Hypercarnivore no longer increases or decreases how fast a dinosaur loses its water. Hypercarnivores and scavengers will also not affect how fast food drains. Large dinosaurs no longer can sit in one spot for almost 2 hours without eating, and other dinosaurs will no longer die of starvation in under 20 minutes despite constantly looking for food.

Insectivore now also takes longer for food to fully drain due to the limited number of insect food sources around the map, while Fisher drains faster because of the abundance of fish.

We haven’t forgotten our herbivore players! We have dramatically increased the number of berry bushes on Gondwa, with now over 300 spread across the map. These bushes can be found in open grassy areas, similar to where bushes grow on Panjura. Berry bushes now also feature a scraggly tree that grows in the middle of the cluster, making them easier to find in a dense forest.

Subspecies Stat Changes

The team has also updated the subspecies for many dinosaurs that were using the older stat tweaks that forced a tradeoff, such as "Increases speed, but decreases armor". As a general rule moving forward, we subspecies will provide positive gameplay options that are good for different playstyles. We will be avoid modifying any massively game-altering stats such as land movement speed, turning radius, and mobility, as these have proven to be playstyle-altering for any dinosaurs affected by these stat options and are much more powerful compared to their subspecies alternatives.

Balance Changes

We have made stat changes in this patch to address dinosaur abilities that no longer fit within the future planned playstyle of the dinosaur, abilities that are too weak or no longer relevant in gameplay, and stat adjustments. These adjustments aim to make old abilities more useful in their current state, and to help a dinosaur fit within its future planned gameplay style better while additional abilities are worked on. The adjustments we have made to the dinosaurs base stats are intended to improve the gameplay for them now, while we work on further improvements in the future.
