Intro

Hello again! July has been a busier than usual month for us here and we’ve made some great progress in several more backend areas of the game, some of which might surprise you! We’re excited to share the work we’ve done over the month, so let’s get to it!

Iguanodon TLC Preview

Getting right into it, we have begun work on the Iguanodon TLC! While this dinosaur is only receiving minor updates to its model, the larger improvements actually come from changes to its animations to help bring out the "burly front-heavy" character that Iguanodon has. You can see here in this before-and-after that both changing its proportions and improving its animations really change the way the creature feels.

We are also working on improving its abilities, focusing a lot more on rearing up onto its hind legs in order to deliver devastating thumb slashes, and improving the reliability of landing attacks with its thumb attacks. We will be able to share more about this in the future, so be sure to keep an eye out.

This is the second stepping stone for our Hadrosaurs, with Lambeosaurus being released just a few months ago. The next hadrosaur on our to-do list will be the Barsboldia. While we have started on the art pass for this creature, it will still be a little while before this particular dinosaur's TLC is done. This is due to issues with our improved "Area of Effect" attacks that we are aiming to release alongside with the Barsboldia TLC, and its TLC won't really be the same without the improved AoE attacks that it heavily leans into. We will be sure to keep you in the loop for updates regarding the Barsboldia TLC!

New Homecave Decorations

Our art team has been stepping back into our Homecave system, and have started creating new decorations to decorate with! These new decorations vary from more natural options such as tall grass, kelp and various types of bushes to place down, but also include more unique and unusual options including grass arches and structures crafted from branches and roots. Check out some sneak peeks of these new upcoming decorations below!

Critter Progress

Alongside the new Dynamosuchus and Wadiasaurus we mentioned in the last devblog, we have been continuing our work on the critters through this month as well, including creating models for even more critters. While our aggressive critters are still work-in-progress, we are planning on adding many different types that provide different gameplay behaviors. For example, while the Dynamosuchus will be quite antagonistic, there are other critters we want to be more skittish while still being threatening.

Our next critter we are working on is the Silesaurus. This is an early dinosauriform from the mid-Triassic period with exceptionally long legs and small sharp teeth. While it primarily eats insects and other small prey, we plan for this critter to run very quickly and be dangerous to small, slow-moving creatures that get too close within its personal boundaries. However, if it spots any larger creature it will turn tail and run away as fast as it can. Currently we are only in the initial modeling stage alongside some basic concept art, however we are making quick progress and hope to have more to show next time.

Digital Art Book Update

We also wanted to give you an update on our digital art book. Veteran players may already know about our plans for a digital art book, but it’s been a while since we last updated you on its progress. For our newer community that are curious, the digital art book for Path of Titans was a perk option available to backers during our crowdfunding campaign back in 2019.

As we've progressed through the past few years of development, we have also been quietly working on the digital art book in the background, and are excited to announce that we are getting close to finalising the book for release! The digital art book will include high quality art from our developers and the game, including concept art, 3D models, and key art from major game updates. Each page will also contain commentary from the Path of Titans development team on each topic, from dinosaurs to game design. Here are a few preview pages of what we've been working on.

However, please keep in mind that the completed digital art book will only be sent out to backers who purchased the digital art book perk during our crowdfunding campaign in 2019, and unfortunately the book can no longer be purchased at the moment. We will keep you updated when we have more news to share on the upcoming digital art book.

Game Webstore Launch

We also wanted to announce the launch of our Game Webstore! The webstore displays all the same information found in the in-game store, such as dinosaur packs and skins. You are able to purchase Path of Titans Coins though the Webstore as well.

Using the Webstore, you are now also able to gift items and bundles to friends or other players! Be sure to check it out at the link below if you are interested.

Display Name Changes and Avatar Customization

We have introduced some highly requested features from the community. Players can now change their Alderon Games display name by visiting our website and viewing their account settings page. Please note that the first display name change is free, but any additional changes will cost a small amount of Path of Titans coins.

While you are in your account settings page, you can also now change your Alderon Games avatar and accent color. Mix and match them as much as you'd like to create a unique look!

New Foliage

Additionally, we have some new foliage content from our art team! We’ve recently made good progress on our set of Wollemi Pine Trees, as shown below. These towering prehistoric pines will be added to forest biomes to add more interesting diversity to the environments, and really spruce up the look of our wooded areas!

Storage Manager

Lastly, we wanted to keep you up to date on our progress with the Storage Manager! We have been working hard on it, and are nearing the finish line now as we work on final tests and fixes before it is ready to go out to the public, with a focus on making sure it is stable across all platforms.

Skin Pack Sales Ending Soon

As always, we want to thank you all for your ongoing support and interest in Path of Titans and our progress on the game. We also wanted to let you know that the Extinction Skin Pack is leaving our store soon, so please check it out in-game or on our webstore if you are interested!

Thank you for reading, and we look forward to seeing you next month!
