Hello everyone!
We are very close to releasing a new patch for Path of Titans! This patch has taken a considerable amount of time and effort to prepare, and we wanted to keep you up to date on what’s been happening behind the scenes.
Upgrading to Unreal Engine 5
For the past two months we have been working on upgrading Path of Titans to use Unreal Engine 5. This is a new version of the game engine Path of Titans runs on, and it includes a number of improvements and brand new features.
Why did we update?
Updating early is extremely important to avoid technical bottlenecks later in development. Being on the latest version of Unreal Engine ensures Path of Titans can take advantage of all new features and optimizations, and also lets us upgrade easier in the future as new engine updates are released.
So, what’s different?
Initially, there will be only subtle differences between Path of Titans running on Unreal Engine 4 and Unreal Engine 5. Porting the game over to the new engine is a huge task, and we simply want to ensure the game runs just as well and has no new bugs. Once the game is stable on the new engine version, we will begin to explore implementing new engine features.
Once we have ensured the game is stable, our first goal will be to upgrade to the new Chaos physics engine to reduce the server-side physics simulation load and improve server performance. With these server performance improvements, we will be much closer to implementing critter AIs.
What else are we working on?
Critter AIs Coming Soon!
With this Engine upgrade, we are also closer to implementing Critter AIs! Critter AIs will allow juvenile dinosaurs to dig burrows and catch small creatures for food. Interact with a burrow in order to dig out a small critter. The type of critter depends on the location of the burrow!
Upcoming critters include…
- Palaeosaniwa - a small prehistoric lizard.
- Didelphodon - a badger-like early mammal.
- Platyhystrix - a sailed amphibian.
- More critters will be coming soon!

Upcoming: Game Mode Mod Support
We have been working on upgrading our modding system to allow for game mode mods. This will bring a completely new way to play Path of Titans, and allow you to customize your game experience. Game modes like Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Hangout and Chill, Roleplaying, and much more will soon be possible!
Upcoming Example Game Mode: Team Deathmatch
We have nearly finished this new example game mode to demonstrate how game mode modding works! In the Team Deathmatch game mode, you can join a team, and gain points by killing players on the other team. The team with the most points at the end of the round wins! This game mode supports many different teams, so you can have large, multi-team battles too.
This game mode is compatible with other mods! This means you can:
- add modded creatures to the deathmatch
- play on custom deathmatch maps
- adjust any server settings such as disabling certain dinosaurs or adjusting stats.
We look forward to seeing all the unique custom game modes the modding community brings in the future. If you are interested in modding Path of Titans, you can signup here! https://alderongames.com/mods
