We are excited to announce that the first iteration of nests have come to Path of Titans at last! Let’s get into it!

Nesting - The First Iteration of a new Mechanic!

Bring out your paternal side, and start raising a family with the new Nesting mechanic out now! Nesting has been a long awaited mechanic since we first started development on Path of Titans back in 2019, so we have been eager to deliver a fun and engaging experience for players that want to raise their own hatchlings. This is the very first implementation of Nesting, and while all the core features are there, we will be looking at community feedback and implementing even more features and improvements in following patches and game updates. Nesting includes a number of features like gathering resources, nest customization, and maintaining your nest to keep your family happy and healthy; here’s an overview of what we’ve included in this update!

Gathering Resources and Nest Construction

All parents have to start somewhere, and that’s choosing a good location for your nest. Nests can be damaged and destroyed by other players, so it’s important to find a safe location that’s well hidden to keep your babies safe. However, that’s not the only challenge you’ll face while crafting your nest.

Players will need to gather resources to build their nests, with natural items found in various locations around the world such as reeds, mud, and branches. While players can place their nest anywhere on Panjura or Gondwa, special ‘Nesting Grounds’ can be found on both maps to indicate locations with more plentiful resources. However, be warned! Nesting grounds also run the risk of carnivores knowing where your nest is, or even other dinosaurs competing for the resources there.

Customize Your Nest

Once your nest is fully built and in the perfect location, it’s time to customize your new home! Well-built nests will act similar to a Homecave away from home, allowing players to change their abilities and personalize their space with Homecave decorations. This includes all the items you have bought or unlocked for your Homecave, including trophy and quest rewards. Additionally, we have added some new decorations as well, such as large structures and tall grass walls to help make your nest as cozy as you’d like.

Inviting and Hatching Babies

Now that you’ve made and decorated your new nest, it’s time to start preparing to invite players into your family. Hatchlings will need food and water to survive, but there’s no need to risk placing nests close to the water’s edge, as parents can store food and water for their babies to feed on safely.

Once you have fully stocked food and water in your nest, it’s time to start inviting players to join your nest! You can do this by selecting the ‘Baby Invite’ button on your nest menu, and send an invite to anyone on the player list. Once a player accepts your invitation, they can select the egg icon on the Character Menu to join your nest as a baby. If you are invited to the nest of a dinosaur you’ve already played as, don’t worry! You will be prompted to merge your characters to keep any skins and Marks safe while you start on your new journey.

With the new Aggressive Critter AI that are now found all across Gondwa and Panjura, parents will have to work hard to protect their children from these new threats, or encourage their hatchlings to hunt and hone their skills. Be sure to watch out in the undergrowth and spot danger before it puts your babies in harm's way.

Adoption

With the wide variety of dinosaurs to choose from in Path of Titans, we know that players won’t always be able to find hatchlings of their own species. It’s for this reason that we are also introducing the Adoption mechanic. Just as you can invite players to join your nest as hatchlings, you can also invite baby dinosaurs of other species to join your family through adoption as long as they have the same diet type. Baby dinosaurs up to half-way in growth can be adopted, and will gain all the perks of your nest, even if they’re not hatched from it directly.

Future Updates

While this new feature is exciting and will bring brand new gameplay to Path of Titans, this is only the first pass of nesting. We will be paying close attention to community feedback regarding the Nesting system to see what additional features we can bring to the game, and any issues or fixes players would like to see updates for. We will keep the community updated on progress of further development for the Nesting feature, and will bring you additional updates in our next upcoming patches.

Thanks for reading, and we hope you enjoy raising new hatchlings!
