Hey Everyone! We have just released the Rhamphorhynchus TLC. This rambunctious coastal flyer is getting a smaller rework with new abilities and ability animations. This includes less restrictive vocal calls with improved effects, and a few situational, streamlined abilities.

This TLC is a little less jam-packed compared to our other dinosaur TLCs as it also introduces some improvements to our flying system. More on that below.

Rhamphorhynchus TLC Playstyles

Pouncer Build

For the Rhamphorhynchus that likes to support the group and pester their opponents, there is the Pouncer Build. Based on its buffs for allies and debuffs for foes, this build uses new abilities and takes advantage of some details in the flyer portion of this update.

Pounce to hitch a ride on your friends as they close in on their prey, and increase your armor with Strong Grip to survive the coming clash.

Buff your trusty steed with Plotting Whispers to increase their attack damage as they fight foes on your behalf.

Shared Rhythm will also keep your favorite friend in the fight, helping them use abilities more often with lower stamina costs and shorter cooldowns.

If a powerful rival has the advantage, pounce from friend to foe and hold on with Strong Claws to become unshakable.

Your Infectious Touch will turn your personal Rhampy hygiene-deficiencies against them, applying noxious effects as their immune system fails to keep up.

Afflict them further with Plague Carrier applying a Pestilent debuff slowing their bleed, stamina, and health recovery, while it spreads to their nearby allies. Overwhelmed and unable to recover, your allies can then chase them down and finish them off.

This build will make you both a blessing and a curse to other dinos, while leaving you a few bites for yourself when the fight is over.

Fisher Build

For the Rhamphorhynchus that would rather spend its time on the coast catching fish and socializing, there’s the Fisher Build. This build focuses on catching aquatic critters with improved swimming and critter damage abilities.

Glide in the air longer while looking for prey, with Flock Migration. This reduces your stamina drain while gliding and reduces it even further when around other fliers.

Once you have your prey in sight, dive down and break the surface with Dart which deals extra damage to critters.

And should they survive the attack, get after them with faster swimming, turning speed, and stamina recovery granted by the hide ability Seabird, to more quickly catch your scaly meal!

If that sounds like a good time, come hangout on the shoreline, soak up some sun, and scream at the vast horizon.

Flying States Update

This patch also introduces a few changes under the hood to our flying system. Prior to this patch, flyers only had two types of flying stamina drain: regular flying and fast flying. This made them all very similar when it came to their airborne locomotion, despite their differences in shape, size, and playstyles.

To make them more unique to their individual flight styles, we have broken the flying system down further to include hovering, slow flying, and gliding movement states. This means long distance gliders like Hatzegopteryx will now have very different stamina management compared to a more rapid flapper like Rhamphorhynchus, which lets them stand out more from one another and better take advantage of their unique aerial specialties.

While this change won't impact the flying physics of Path of Titans, it allows certain flyers to have more varied different stats for each flying state, making them feel more unique and fun to play.

Flying Rework

We look forward to seeing how players will utilize their Rhamphorhynchus, and whether you’ll favor PvP hijinks, general mischief, or just lounging around on the coast, and we hope you enjoy this overall TLC and the flight updates that will help with all of the above.

As always, thank you for your continued support through the game’s development. We will be keeping an eye on your feedback. See you soon!

At Note on the Flying States Update for Modded Dinosaurs

Because the updated flying states are brand new, modded creatures will need a bit of time to be updated to take advantage of the system. Flying modded creatures will still work completely fine, and will behave exactly the same as before this patch. Please give modders a little bit of time to update their flying creatures to take advantage the new flight states system!
