We’re excited to introduce the Styracosaurus TLC! A complete visual and ability overhaul to our mascot ceratopsian. With fresh abilities and revamped mechanics, Styracosaurus can now adapt to a variety of playstyles, from agile hit-and-run tactics to high-impact brawling and supportive team play. Here’s a breakdown of everything new in this Styracosaurus rework.
Jousting Playstyle
The Jousting Playstyle focuses on swift, tactical strikes and rapid repositioning. At the heart of this playstyle is Joust, a high-impact attack that winds up and then propels Styracosaurus forward upon release. The longer it’s held the further it launches, and the more bleed it inflicts——making it a powerful tool for both initiating combat and escaping danger. Complementing this attack is Braced Impacts, a passive ability that enhances the value of every successful Joust. When Styracosaurus lands a hit with Joust, it temporarily gains armor and recovers a burst of stamina, encouraging a hit-and-run approach that rewards precision and timing.
To further support the mobility element of this playstyle, Charge allows Styraco to surge forward in a straight line, damaging everything in its path. It's not just an offensive maneuver however as it can also be used defensively, letting Styracosaurus escape predators or reposition quickly to line up its next joust. Together, these abilities define a playstyle centered on speed, precision, and tactical disengagement.
Ramming Playstyle
Prefer raw power over precision and speed? The Ramming Playstyle offers you a more direct and punishing approach.
Styracosaurus's core ability, Ram, is a devastating frontal attack. It rears up and slams its head downwards, dealing significant damage and medium bleed. Its quick execution and ability to be used mid-turn make it ideal for catching opponents off guard. For even greater impact, Ram can be paired with Blunted Horns—a passive ability that trades the bleed effect of Ram for a 50% damage boost and a 25% cooldown reduction. This exchange transforms Ram into a relentless tool of brute force, ideal for Styracosauruses who want to dominate through sheer power.
This playstyle rewards aggression and positioning, enabling Styraco to overwhelm enemies before they have a chance to react.
Other Abilities
Beyond these defined playstyles there are several versatile abilities that enhance Styraco's combat options and synergize well with both solo and group strategies. Puncture allows Styracosaurus to impale enemies with its frill spines, inflicting a status effect that increases bleed damage taken and reduces healing over time. Visually, Styraco's frill spines will reflect this change—disappearing and regrowing as it uses the ability.
Frilled Bond adds a cooperative layer to gameplay. This group-based buff increases both damage and armor for all allies nearby, stacking up to four times. It’s an essential tool for coordinated ceratopsian herds looking to maintain the upper hand in extended fights.
And finally, Bright Crest which turns adversity into advantage. When Styracosaurus is affected by a status effect, this ability boosts its damage output, allowing it to strike back harder in prolonged encounters. It also causes Styraco's frill to flush red with blood, signaling its heightened aggression and sending a clear message to its opponents.
We hope you enjoy the Styraco TLC! We look forward to finally seeing our mascot get the love it deserves and will be listening to any feedback you may have. Thank you for your support and we'll see you next time!
