The Tyrannosaurus TLC has arrived! This enormous terrestrial predator is now completely updated with new art and animations, while also boasting a brand new array of abilities, allowing it to stand against any rivals.
Tyrannosaurus Ability Overview
Tyrannosaurus is now able to seize and devour smaller dinosaurs by using its new Clamp ability. Once it has its prey in its jaws, it can thrash them back and forth until they are shaken apart. This ability also provides T-rex immunity to Knockback while carrying another dinosaur, providing an extra layer of protection in pitched battles.
Tyrannosaurus still boasts it's bone-fracturing bite attacks with Crushing Bite and Bone Snap, but it's also now able to take advantage of even more high-impact damage boosting effects. With its new ‘Killing Blows’ ability, Tyrannosaurus can inflict greater damage on already bone-fractured targets, finishing them off with a powerful bite. Additionally, Tyrannosaurus’s new "Blood Rivalry" ability will buff its capacity to cause fractures by up to three stacks each time it lands a bite on its target.
‘Tyrant’s Presence’ is another new debuff ability that causes nearby smaller creatures to lose 25% of their armor; while the new hide ability 'King’s Mantle' bolsters your strength by absorbing incoming attacks! When taking hits, the King’s Mantle ability will also grant Tyrannosaurus a 2% damage boost, stacking up to a total of 10%.
Tyrannosaurus can also now use ‘Rampage’ to deal devastating damage when the tide turns against it in a fight. While low on health, T. rex can roar and unleash powerful damage onto opponents, with an increase of up to 50% when very near death. This ability could be the difference between victory of defeat in the thralls of battle! Alternatively, ‘Shattering Cry’ might just be your ticket to survival, with this new ability allowing Tyrannosaurus to slow nearby opponents' healing process down, keeping those fractures you’ve dealt to your opponents around longer.
If however you prefer a stealthier approach to combat we have additional abilities that fit perfectly into this playstyle. Tyrannosaurus naturally has a very quick crouching movement speed, letting it stealthily approach its targets, and with its new ability "Surprise Attack" it can also gain a quick speed boost after leaving a crouch, letting it quickly close the gap on its prey.
We hope you enjoy the new Tyrannosaurus TLC, and look forward to hearing your feedback!
What's else is in this patch?
We also recently released a full game patch, with many new features and mechanics! Here's a quick rundown of everything you'll find in this patch.
Critter Growth
Critters now spawn at different growth stagest! While it's still common to find adult critters, players can now also find baby and subadult critters too. Baby critters are very skittish and deal very little damage, and are perfect for younger dinosaurs to hunt. Baby critters are slower, smaller, and weaker, with their corpses providing less food, and the sub-adult and adult critters provide greater rewards upon defeat in exchange for being a tougher fight.
Critters also have new skins for each growth stage, so you can tell what age they are from a distance.
Alpha Critters
New to this growth system is the rare chance for an alpha critter to spawn. Alpha critters are larger, faster, have more health, and deal more damage than regular critters, and as such Alpha critters corpses provide significantly more food than standard critters.
Alpha critters also have a unique skin, so be on the lookout for any brightly colored critters- they are likely much more powerful than you'd expect.
New Critter: Pamelaria
Pamelaria, the strange long-necked reptile, is now found all over Gondwa and Panjura. This new critter is quite skittish and will be a great first hunt for younger dinosaurs. Be sure to listen out for this strange new critter's sounds in the undergrowth.
Updated Footstep Sounds
All footstep sounds have been revisited with work ranging from minor tweaks to complete overhaul and replacement, new size classes have been added for the smallest and largest creatures, audible range and attenuation distances have been tuned or in several cases overhauled and fixed, and appropriately distant thumping effects depending on your creature's weight and growth stage have been added to better communicate dinosaur size and distance.
Player Density Indicators
When a large number of players are detected in an area, all players maps on the server will update to indicate an area of "high activity". This will be displayed as a red glow and small dinosaur icon around the affected area. This will give players a better understanding of where potentially dangerous packs of players may be stalking, and let them avoid the area (or head there for a fight!). This setting is fully configurable for community servers, and can also be completely disabled if desired.
New Wind Effects
All in-game foliage now benefits from these improvements, resulting in more realistic movements. For example, in grassland areas wind-blown grass will now exhibit realistic swaying, and during stormy weather foliage will now respond dynamically to stronger winds. Players should note that wind effects are disabled on low settings and mobile to maintain optimal performance.
Combat and Balance Changes
We have made a large number of combat and balance changes in this patch. Please check out the full patch notes for all the details. Here are some of the highlights:
- Adjusted the running speed and stamina drain rates of Juvenile, Adolescent, and Sub-Adult growth stages to generally speed them up and provide more stamina to allow young dinosaurs to better travel the map and escape danger. This affects each species differently.
- Adjusted most dinosaurs to have higher fall damage resistance at smaller growth sizes.
- Adjusted all Fish buffs to last up to 10 minutes (from 2)
We have also adjusted some of the less-used abilities for some dinosaurs to make them generally less niche and much stronger, so they are much more viable options now. Some examples of abilities we have tweaked are:
- Deinonychus: Slicer has been moved to the Generic ability slot, and can now be equipped independently of your other Head abilities.
- Lambeosaurus: Dunking Kick has been moved to the Tail slot, and now provides a passive swim turn speed buff (10%) while equipped.
- Struthiomumus: Added a new Senses ability "Escape": When hit for the first time, gain a 20% speed boost for 10 seconds but deal no damage while it's active. Cooldown 5 minutes.
- Rhamphyorhynchus: Added a new ability "Strong Claws": a passive ability that makes Rhampy immune to knockback while latched.
We hope you enjoy everything this update brings! Be sure to send us any feedback you may have. See you next time.
A Note for Switch Players
Please note that the Nintendo Switch platform has not yet received this game patch, and will not be able to access the Tyrannosaurus TLC. We are working with Nintendo to get the patch approved as fast as possible. Thank you for your understanding, and we will keep you updated as soon as it's live. We want to remind Nintendo Switch players that they are able to also access the game for free on mobile and PC by logging in with the same Alderon Games account that owns their Nintendo Switch copy. Both mobile and PC have access to the Tyrannosaurus TLC.
A Note for Android Players
We are aware that some Android devices may not run the newest patch properly yet. We have fixed a number of issues already, but some remain still. We will post news about fixes as they roll out. Thank you for your patience!
A Note for PC Players
A limited number of PC players are experiencing crashes due to compatibility with their graphics driver and the Unreal Engine 5.5 Upgrade. We are working on helping players with this still.
